Information:
Anting-anting was once used as an essential part of the Filipino battle gear, worn with the belief that its spiritual and magical powers will provide invisibility and protection. Some of the Filipino men and women were enticed, attracted or persuaded into using it as a charm for their daily life and survival, hence the collection, Marahuyo. Showcasing the intricate details of each talisman (anting-anting) in my collection gives an opportunity for it to be visually appreciated and admired through its culture and its history. Inspired by the anting-anting vests and Nazareno handkerchiefs, I conceptualized and sketched some symbolisms that would achieve the overall look and aesthetic of my inspiration.
